Terms of Participation

Nature of the Event

The SUPER!WEIT is not a race or competitive event. It is an organisational framework for a private long-distance bicycle ride, which each participant completes on their own responsibility. Official time classification is deliberately not carried out – even though we record the ride time via GPS tracker and communicate it at the finish.

You are responsible for safely completing the route, observing the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO) and looking after your own wellbeing en route. The organiser provides only the services described (start area, two checkpoints, finish area, GPS tracker, suggested route, transport of one small carry-on-sized bag from start to finish) and assumes no further duty of care, accompaniment, safeguarding or supervision.

The organiser is Schwarzwald Super! e.V. (see the Terms and Conditions and Legal Notice) – where “we” appears here, it means the organiser.

Participation Requirements

Only persons of legal age may take part (Terms and Conditions § 1).

You are responsible for your own health fitness and for having an adequate level of training. You make the formal declaration regarding your health fitness with the Participant Declaration at check-in (Terms and Conditions § 9.6).

During the event you must hold valid liability, accident and health insurance, including cover for any necessary return transport.

Equipment and GPS Tracker

Bicycle

All road-legal bicycles powered solely by muscle power are permitted. E-bikes and any bicycles with motorised assistance are not permitted.

Mandatory equipment

For riding in the dark we strongly recommend reflective elements on your clothing or helmet (e.g. a reflective band or a high-visibility vest) so that others can see you clearly.

GPS Tracker

At check-in (accreditation) you will be issued a GPS tracker which you must carry and keep switched on throughout the ride. You mount it yourself – details are provided at handover.

You are responsible for the tracker’s power supply. Depending on circumstances, you may need to recharge or change batteries en route.

You lodge the deposit of 150 € at check-in – preferably in cash, alternatively by PayPal to pp@schwarzwald-super.de; you will receive a receipt on request. On proper return we refund it in full; the details of refund, damage and loss are governed by Terms and Conditions § 6.4.

Return:

If the tracker is damaged, lost or becomes defective during the ride, you must notify us immediately by phone – the number is in your start documents. You may continue to ride, but without time recording.

Important: The tracker is used for time recording, route validation and Live Tracking. It is not an emergency button – in an emergency, please call for help yourself (112).

Live Tracking: During the ride your position is shown on our service provider’s tracking page. That page is publicly accessible and can be found via search engines – so family and followers can follow you. If you would rather not appear there, tick the box on the Participant Declaration – or send us an informal message at any time; we will then hide you from the public view. Which details are shown there is set out in the Privacy Policy. Time recording and route validation continue regardless.

Your time will only be communicated to you if you have substantially followed the official route, the tracker was continuously active, you have passed a valid control at both checkpoints and you have kept to the time limits (see next section).

Route, Start, Checkpoints and Time Recording

The SUPER!WEIT is a ride of around 750 km through the Black Forest. We provide the official route in advance as a GPX file in the participants’ area; the version current there at any given time applies.

You are not strictly required to follow the official route – however, you will then not receive time recording. The organiser decides at its reasonable discretion whether the official route has been substantially followed.

Check-in (accreditation)

Before the start you collect your start documents and your GPS tracker at check-in. Check-in is possible in person only: an ID card or passport is sufficient, and you do not have to present a registration confirmation. Collection by another person is not possible.

The time slot you have chosen helps us to spread the flow of arrivals – you are not bound by it. The only requirement is: check-in before you set off. Without check-in there is no start. Please bring the signed submission part of the Participant Declaration and Liability Waiver with you (see the Liability, Insurance, Data Protection section). The venue and times of the check-in will be announced in good time in advance.

Start and finish

Start in Karlsruhe from Friday 25 September 2026 – finish in Freiburg. The start window ends at 10.30am on the Friday. Official time limit: Monday 28 September 2026, 3pm. Further details on the start location will be announced in good time.

You are responsible for arriving in good time for check-in and at the announced start location at the start time you have chosen. If you do not start, you have no claim to a refund of the registration fee or to a transfer to the following year (Terms and Conditions § 8.4). Claims arising from a booked cancellation option (Terms and Conditions § 7.1) remain unaffected. If you miss the start time you have chosen, you may start after consulting us, up to the end of the start window on the Friday; the official time limit at the finish remains unaffected.

Two official checkpoints

There are two official checkpoints along the route. Their locations will be announced in good time before the event. At each checkpoint we provide refreshments and a rest opportunity – both are optional, stopping is not mandatory.

The control at each checkpoint is mandatory: either in person or impersonally (the procedure for unstaffed checkpoints will be announced). Without a valid control at both checkpoints, no time recording takes place.

Time limits for passing the checkpoints are relative to the start time and will be announced before the event.

The start time is the moment you actually set off at the start location, or the moment you pass a timing point designated for this purpose – not the start time you have chosen. The organiser reserves the right to move the beginning of time recording to a designated point on the route beyond the start location, and the end of time recording to a designated point on the route before the finish location (neutralised start and finish zones); this will be announced in good time before the event.

In the event of (imminent) time limit overrun, the organiser may remove you from the event in accordance with Terms and Conditions § 7.5. After consultation and at the organiser’s discretion, continuing on your own responsibility and without time recording may be permitted instead.

Bikes at checkpoints are stored at your own risk – the organiser does not take them into its custody and is liable for loss or damage only under Terms and Conditions § 9.

Did Not Finish (DNF)

You may end the ride at any time of your own accord. If you do, we ask you to:

The same applies if you have to stop involuntarily (injury, an irreparable defect, health problems).

Conduct on the Route

Road traffic

The route is not closed to traffic. At any time you must expect further road users. Observe the German Road Traffic Regulations (Straßenverkehrsordnung, StVO). Where violations of the StVO are officially sanctioned, we will pass your personal data on to the competent authority at its request.

Consideration

Ride carefully and do not endanger your fellow participants. Remain respectful towards other road users.

Animals on the route

At any time and in any place, grazing animals (cows, horses, sheep, goats) as well as free-running dogs, poultry or wildlife may cross the road. Expect this.

Instructions

Follow the instructions of the organiser and helpers.

Self-sufficiency

You ride self-supported: no organised support from the outside (no accompanying vehicles, no private support teams). You must take care of everything yourselves and cannot demand help from the organiser.

Publicly accessible services (bike shops, stores, catering, public transport) may be used. Mutual help between participants is expressly encouraged.

Our offerings at the checkpoints or en route may gladly be accepted. In case of any problem, you may contact us at any time.

Your own costs: All costs not covered by the organiser’s services – in particular travel to and from the start and finish locations, overnight stays en route, food and drink away from the checkpoints, repairs, personal equipment and the journey home if you abandon the ride – are borne by you. If the event is cancelled pursuant to Terms and Conditions § 8.1, these costs are not reimbursed.

Environmental conduct

Do not throw any rubbish onto the road. Leave no traces.

Doping

Doping is prohibited.

Exclusion from the Event

Liability, Insurance, Data Protection

For questions of liability, the provisions of Terms and Conditions § 9 apply.

You hand in the signed submission part of the Participant Declaration and Liability Waiver at check-in. We will provide the document as a PDF before the event; spare copies are available at check-in. Without a signed declaration there are no start documents.
